Özet:

Composite materials are used in many different areas of industry because they can provide higher strength strengths while being lighter than traditional materials. They are basically formed by the combination of at least two different materials and are therefore heterogeneous.

In order to determine whether composite materials can work under certain service conditions, their mechanical properties must be well calculated and known. For this reason, analytical and numerical approaches with different assumptions and based on different foundations have been presented in scientific records. Similarly, Classical Lamination Theory has been introduced in order to be able to make the transition from micro to macro dimension, that is, to calculate mechanical features of laminate. The decrease in mechanical strength of composites can occur in two ways, either due to manufacturing problems or as a result of extreme loading.

Damage to composite materials can take different forms. Generally, they occur in the form of consecutive damages and cause deterioration in the structure. This induces a decreasing in the mechanical features of the material and a change in its natural frequencies.

In this study, the calculation methods of composite materials will be compared and the specimens will be characterised. Then, these specimens will be damaged in three-point bending test and their natural frequencies will be compared according to the damaged and undamaged conditions.
