Özet

Natural products have become in demand in recent years. The use of plants has long history in health and cosmetic fields. Local cosmetic applications of the plants include changing skin color, protection from sunlight, treating acne and body rashes, relieving stains, softening the skin, treating sun burns, making the skin smooth and providing a healthy skin (1). Herbal cosmetics are rapidly absorbed by the superficial layers of the skin and are usually hypoallergenic. Organic cosmetic components obtained from plant species contain a higher amount of natural antioxidants and successfully replaced synthetic components or synthetic additives used to stabilize cosmetics and mostly harmful to the skin (2).

Antioxidant activity is related to the protection of biomolecules in the human body and other biological systems from oxidations that can occur in various means. Free radicals are molecules that damage them with oxidation by attacking somatic cells and immune system in the body. The antioxidant is also reacting with these free radicals that damage the cells and the compounds that are degrading or destroying their impact. 2.2-Difenyl-1-picrilhylrazyl (DPPH •) radical scavenging, FRAP (iron (III) reduction), ABTS radical scavenging activity, the total phenolic substance determination can be administered.

When we scan the literature, we can access the article with many plants and the antioxidant study. In a study, antioxidant activities of plant extracts were evaluated by combining three different antioxidant assay methods with on-line HPLC method (3). Again in another study, the antioxidant serum has been developed while determining the chemical composition of the plant extracts (4).

Nowadays, the rapid increase in technology and industrialization has started to be directed to nature against the problems. In this respect, interest in the plants is increasingly increasing.
