Özet

In recent years, increasing efficiency in resource allocation is critical to survive in a competitive environment. Maximizing the output without increasing the cost is the main target in organizations. In a product warehouse department, material handling equipment, human resources, stock areas and ramps are the main resource limitations. Under these limitations, resource utilization should be kept high to maximize the amount of shipment and in turn eliminate any possible delays in customer delivery. Therefore, the focus of this study is assigning the tasks to ramps considering the stocks in the preparation area. Particularly, artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm which models swarm intelligence approach of bees is applied in this study as a swarm based meta-heuristic algorithm for optimizing the ramp assignment utilization. The contribution of this study is to create a formulation for ramp assignments in a product warehouse in a production environment. As a future highlight, the target is to apply a similar optimization methodology to a wider scope from production reception to sales network distribution.
