Biotechnology is defined as the use of living organisms or their products to produce a product useful to humans (or their environment) or to solve a problem. Drug development in the biotechnology industry is mainly focused on fighting human disease, with more than half of the drugs in the pipeline aimed at treating cancer. Most of the chemotherapeutics used in cancer treatment have numerous side effects. Therefore, the identification of targets in anticancer studies facilitates their use in drug discovery for adjuvant therapies in cancer treatment. On this basis, molecular naturopathic applications that modulate the growth, survival and apoptosis of cancer cells are carried out in our laboratory. In our laboratory, the effects of natural molecules on key molecules involved in the mechanisms of programmed cell death of cancer cells are studied in normal and cancer cells.
