Özet

Introduction: Obesity and metabolic syndrome are common physical health problems among patients with severe and persistent mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia. Obesity affects the physical health, quality of life and drug adherence in these patients. In western countries obesity rates among persons with schizophrenia range from 40% to 62% and are especially high in women and around %30 in the general population.
