Özet

Many of the organizations in the world have realized the importance of the disaster data and are working on to collect the data's for planning the emergency relief activities. The data requirements for researchers are increasing in Turkey, especially in the city of Istanbul which has 8000 years of history. But databases on disasters are not satisfactory or systematically released. The paper evaluates the examples of the databases both in World and Turkey, identifies the standards and criteria to develop a new database for Istanbul City. The paper includes an evaluation of the collected disaster data of Byzantium, Ottoman and Republic Period for Istanbul City.
