Biography

Dr. Ozan Hikmet Arıcan is an Assoc. Professor at Kocaeli University, Faculty of Maritime Studies, Department of Maritime Business Administration. He completed his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Maritime Transportation Management Engineering at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa. He has published several articles and book chapters in the field of maritime studies. His research interests include tug boat planning, risk analyses of gas tanker accidents, chemical and gas tanker transport, ship personnel management, marine accidents, seafarers' mental health, and green shipping. Before his academic career, he worked for 12 years on various tanker vessels (LPG, Chemical and Oil) and served as a ship captain between 2012 and 2016. During the school period, he periodically goes on ships in the summer and performs his profession.
