Özet

The effect of surface texture on the tribological properties of materials is one of the most popular topics. Because of their disadvantages, numerous studies were done to upgrade the erosive wear resistance of polymeric materials. To understand the surface textures and their orientations effect on particle erosion behavior of polymeric materials, the geometry of surface textures and their different orientations were investigated. Square prismatic textures were printed on the ABS polymer surface using a 3D printing technique. As a function of the particle flow direction, changes in particle erosion rates of the surface textures and their orientations were examined. It was understood that the surface textures, which are oriented perpendicular to the particle flow direction, are the most effective structures. However, it was demonstrated that the orientation of the surface textures is as important as the geometry of the surface textures if the object would be exposed to particle erosion under variable particle flow directions.
