Today, it is important to handle buildings that affect both human health and environmental health with an ecological understanding. Green building evaluation systems, which have become very popular in recent years, help support this understanding. However, these systems mainly focus on the examination of new structures. In this study, an ecological evaluation system for traditional rural dwellings is proposed by making use of existing systems. The holistic structure of the proposed model trial is given in Figure A. Accordingly, the model proposal obtained was tested on a sample house selected from the village of Gacık in Yalova, Turkey. At the end of the study; the feasibility of the model proposal, which aims to be suitable for 5 different climatic regions of Turkey, objective, practical and guiding, and the ecological evaluation of the sample house has been demonstrated.

Figure A. Holistic structure of the model proposal

Purpose: This study aims to create a model proposal that enables the evaluation of traditional rural housing examples according to ecological construction criteria, and to teste its application through the sample. Theory and Methods: In the creation of the model proposal, 11 studies consist of national and international green building evaluation systems suitable for the purpose of the subject and examples of models for ecological evaluation discussed in thesis studies in Turkey were accepted as reference. In the model proposal created by making use of reference systems and related literature; there are performance criteria, scoring system, evaluation standards and implementation tools. The model proposal was tested on the selected example and how it will be applied was discussed in detail. Results: The building, which was evaluated according to the model proposal, achieved the "GOOD" degree of success, achieving 75.90% ecological success. Conclusion: In the study, a model proposal that can be used in ecological evaluation of traditional rural houses has been developed. The developed model proposal is suitable for five different climate regions of Turkey and is objective. The model prepared for implementation is a guide. In the model proposal, which consists of 5 main categories, 20 evaluation subjects, and 61 evaluation criteria, buildings are evaluated over 100 points; it can get one of the "very low", "low", "medium", "good" and "very good" success degrees.
