Özet

Attitude is defined as a mental, emotional and behavioral reaction pre-tendency that the individual organizes against himself or any object, social issue or event around him based on his experience, motivation and knowledge. It is known that students in schools have a positive attitude especially towards physical education lessons. However, this study was planned because we wondered how the attitudes of 8th grade students who are preparing for the exam and who are in the transition to adolescence towards physical education lesson. In this direction, the aim of the study is to examine the attitudes of 8th grade students who will take the TEOG exam about Physical Education and Sports lessons. By using convenience sampling method from sampling methods which are not random, this research consists of 130 volunteers who are 8th grade students from 3 secondary schools which are in Izmit Center because of its accessibility in 2014-2015 academic years. After the students are informed about the research; information questionnaire, Physical Education and Sports Attitude Scale revised by Demirhan and Altay (2001). When the data are analyzed in the SPSS 25.0 package program, since they conform to the normal distribution; Among the parametric tests, independent groups t-test for pairwise cluster comparisons, one-way Analysis of Variance for more than two sets comparisons were used. After all; While there was no significant difference in the variables of gender, age, participation in regular sports, being licensed, doing sports in the family, place of residence, educational status of the mother and father, and the status of being allowed to do sports in the family, a significant difference was found in the variables of monthly income and school success. As a result, it is thought that the high average of families with high monthly income and families of this level encouraging their children to send their children to a physical activity, even on weekends, may be effective.

It was thought that the students with high school success were discharged by turning to sports after their intensive studies, which might have caused them to develop positive attitudes towards physical education lessons.
