To utilize plant and fungal polysaccharides more effectively in stem cell culture and tissue engineering studies, the isolation, modification and purification of these polysaccharides needed before the cell culture are aimed in the Glycobiology Laboratory. The upstream processes, purification and sterilization, are carried out in the laboratory infrastructure to culture human and animal tissue-derived (stem) cells successfully with plant and fungal samples. Our efforts is not limited only on plant and fungal polysaccharides, but also on the modification and purification of peptides, proteins and different fatty acids by enzymatic or chemical reactions for the purpose of the development of drug/cell transport systems and natural polymer-based biomaterials with different properties.
