Abstract

This paper examines the frequency selective surface (FSS) in the reflectarray antenna for reduction of radar cross section (RCS). A 12x12 novel reflectarray antenna with double layer FSS is used for verify RCS reduction. The double layer FSS structure is settled behind of the reflectarray antenna as a ground. FSS backed reflectarray antenna and ground plane backed reflectarray antenna is simulated on RCS performance. The simulation results show that double layer FSS structure is reduced RCS level between 2 GHz - 12 GHz when compared with ground plane backed reflectarray antenna. Gain and radiation performance of FSS backed and ground plane backed reflectarray antenna are compared to each other.
