The utilities of a two different chemical precursor solution for the production of YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO) superconducting thick films were investigated. The homogeneous precursor solution was prepared from metal acetates and nitrates based metalorganic compounds. The YBCO 14 thick films were prepared on nickel tapes buffered with CeO2/YSZ/CeO2 layers by continuous sol-gel dip coating method. ESEM, EDS, and XRD analysis were used to characterize the YBCO films. The films produced in this manner were dense and free of cracks.
