ABSTRACT

Purpose:. The use of recycled materials in manufacturing has become increasingly popular due to environmental concerns and the need to reduce waste. In this article, three-layer bottles were produced using PE raw material, which is widely used today, and PE material obtained after recycling. The effect of recycled materials on the mechanical and thermal properties of three-layer blow molded bottles will be investigated.

Metod: The change in the mechanical and thermal properties of the raw materials used after blow moulding will be investigated. For the determination of mechanical and thermal properties, test samples will be taken from single-layer and three-layer bottles and tensile test, dynamic mechanical analysis test, Differential Scanning Calorimetry analysis test and Thermomechanical Analysis test methods will be applied to these samples.

Results: The use of recycled materials in the three-layer molding process of bottles has a significant impact on the mechanical and thermal properties of the finished product. As a result of the tensile test, there was a decrease in the mechanical properties of the three-layer products obtained compared to the single-layer product in the tensile tests, although the decrease in yield stress and yield elongation was not significant. There was a decrease in the thermal properties of the recycled materials compared to the original material before blow molding. This is due to the degradation of polymer chains during the recycling process and the presence of impurities in the recycled materials. Manufacturers should carefully consider the balance between environmental concerns and product performance when deciding to use recycled materials in the production process. It is important to note that using higher quality recycled materials and implementing better recycling practices can lead to better product performance.
