Background and aim: Difficult intubation is seen frequently in infants under the age of 1year-especially in babies 1 month old in the pediatric population. This was higher in babies with neural tube defects. Video laryngoscopes are the airway devices that were shown to be effective in difficult airways. However, only a few of them have pediatric and infantile blades. We aimed to compare the channeled Airtraq and Macintosh typed C-MAC in babies less than 1 year of age undergoing elective neurosurgery. Methods: After research ethics committee and informed patient consent was obtained 50 infants were enrolled in this prospective randomized study. Patients were divided into two groups; the Airtraq and the C-MAC. Patient demographic characteristics, device insertion time, and intubation times were recorded. Results: The values of 1 patient in the Airtraq and 4 patients in the C-MAC group could not be analyzed. The demographic characteristics of the groups were similar. No difference was detected in terms of insertion time, intubation time, and the number of intubation attempts between the groups. Conclusion: The channeled angulated Airtraq and Macintosh typed C-MAC could safely be used in babies less than 1 month and 1 year old.
