Özet

Superparamagnetic micro particles are widely used for capturing and manipulating cells. These particles have a magnetic core and outer layer coated with antibodies for specifically binding to the target cells. In this work matrix of nickel micro pads and columns on a glass substrate were designed to trap superparamagnetic particles in a microfluidic chamber when an external magnetic field applied. The magnetic field created in the microfluidic chamber and the impact of the physical dimensions of the pads and the columns were simulated in Comsol. The first sample nickel pads 250 Angstrom thick and square shapes (10μm / 20μm / 30μm) were fabricated and tested. The accumulation rate of the immunomagnetic beads around the pads was measured when an external magnetic field applied.
