Özet

Micro-Machining of materials that need acquirement and advanced technology will be cause to rising of usage of laser in micromachining. Dimensions of industrial, electronic and medical equipment diminish with the advanced technology. So, importance of machinibility of micron-dimension material arises. Transparency, thermal stability and a very good dimensional stability make Polycarbonate (PC) one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics. Polycarbonates have been used in many applications area such as lenses, high temperature and pressure windows, face shields, industrial equipment. Using lasers for drilling precisely has been developed in industry. Laser can drill more precisely and smaller than conventional method.

In this study, micro-holes are obtained on | mm thick polycarbonate plate by pulsed laser with 6 nanosecond pulse duration. It is investigated that the effect of laser pulse number and frequency for different wavelength on holes quality and geometry.
