In the present work, the effect of different
catalyst preparation methods on physicochemical properties of the catalysts and
their catalytic activities was investigated in oxy-steam reforming of biogas
system (OSR). Co-precipitation, hydrothermal, and sol-gel techniques were
applied to prepare NiCe/MgAl catalysts. All the catalysts were characterized by
using XRD, BET, ICP-OES, XPS, SEM, and TGA analyses to understand the effects
of different preparation methods and reaction conditions. The activity tests
were performed in a downflow packed-bed reactor system at 600 °C, 700 °C, and
800 °C under atmospheric pressure. Also, a constant feed gas molar ratio of CH4/CO2/O2/H2O
= 1/0.67/0.1/0.3 was selected in all reaction runs. The results were
demonstrated that high CH4 conversion (94 %), CO2
conversion (82 %), H2 yield (95 %), and H2/CO of 1.5 with
low carbon formation were obtained on the catalyst prepared by co-precipitation
(NCMA-co).
