Unplanned urbanization and unbounded industrialization constitute the dominant texture prevalent in Kocaeli, which is one of the prominent industrial cities of our country. Degirmendere, in the &flak district of Kocaeli, as one of the oldest settlements of the region, had already been affected by the intense construction triggered by industrialization. However, with the loss of lives and property after the 1999 earthquake in the region, a new urban settlement area has started where a rapid and dense texture is dominant.
