With the development of technologies, in our world where everything is
now intelligent, with the development of image processing technologies,
assistive systems in vehicles have become more intelligent and have the ability
to make decisions as much as a driver. In this study, a driving support system
software was designed by examining the road condition with image processing
methods before the vehicle is in a corner, and the driver was previously warned
against the risk of skidding. In the study, the situation of the bend was
perceived by the image processing method and an algorithm design was made to
alert the driver by evaluating the possible skidding risk according to the bend
radius when the vehicle's current speed is entered into the bend. Experiments
of the designed software have been carried out in the simulation environment.
As a result of the simulation studies, the system has been shown to give an
effective warning. These systems, which are used as driving support systems in
upper segment vehicles and as support systems for autonomous vehicles, aim to
reduce the time lost in traffic in addition to minimizing traffic accidents in
the near future. The software developed as a result of the study has been made
applicable in low segment passenger cars with the use of a low cost embedded
system.
