Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of Ramadan fasting on ambulatory blood pressure in treated subjects with grade 2-3 hypertension using combination drug therapy. Twenty-four hours ambulatory blood pressure monitoring was performed during and 1 month after Ramadan. No statistically significant difference was found between 24h mean blood pressures in the two monitoring periods, except for a small rise before dawn while having a morning meal.
