Özet

Peroxidases exist in almost all living organisms. These are heme proteins; have molecular weights ranging from 30 to 150 kDa. Peroxidases (EC 1.11.1.X) belong to the class of oxidoreductases that contain ferriprotoporphyrin IX as the prosthetic group that catalyse the reduction of peroxides, such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as well as the oxidation of a variety of both phenolic and nonphenolic compounds (e.g. catechol, pyrogallol, guaiacol, aromatic amines, indoles, sulfonates, etc.) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide
