Abstract

The inhibition effect of dodecyl benzene sulfonate (DBS) in different concentrations in a 0.1 M HCl acid solution on the corrosion of iron and aluminum was investigated. For this purpose, iron and aluminum corrosion rates were determined from weight loss measurements. Besides variations in corrosion rates with time, percent inhibition efficiency values were calculated. Variations in pH and conductivity values of the inhibited and uninhibited solutions were measured. It was determined that dodecyl benzene sulfonate was more effective especially in aluminum corrosion prevention.
