© 2022 University of Split, FESB.In this paper, a review study on energy efficiency in lighting systems is conducted. The study is a preparation for a case study on the lighting efficiency of education buildings. A review of lighting systems is given. In the review, the educational buildings in the Marmara region of Turkey were primarily investigated. In addition, with the zero energy building approach, how to provide the amount of light required for lighting with the least possible energy according to the requirements in the legislation were explained. The key parameters of lighting educational facilities are introduced.
