Abstract

Turkish State Theatre was founded in 1949. It stages plays in one fourth of Turkey (21 provinces), performing at 36 theatres. Since its foundation, the State Theatre has attracted a considerable number of theatregoers, turning into a reliable and respectable brand of the country in terms of dramatic arts. In recent years, however, the brand of the State Theatre has started to be questioned increasingly and loudly by those already engaged in the art of theatre.
