This study aims to reveal the cyberbullying experiences among adolescents in Türkiye, a country with one
of the highest numbers of adolescents from among European countries and ranking first among OECD
countries in terms of bullying experiences, as evidenced by a recent literature review. 54 articles, which
were published between January 2015 and December 2023, were scanned and reviewed in university library
databases both in Turkish and English with the words “Türkiye (Turkey)”, “cyberbullying”, “middle/secondary
school”, and “high school”. The results demonstrate that the articles reviewed in this study have mostly
proposed a similar theoretical framework to elucidate the background of the acts and highlighted several
characteristics of methodology and samples. It is noteworthy that there are significant disparities in the rates
of cyberbullying, cyber-victimisation, and bystander experiences, as indicated by various studies. Despite
existing insights into the percentages, predictors, and consequences of such behaviours, there remains a gap
in fragmenting the available information and aligning it with the focus of the studies. This evaluative scoping
review, based on the data collected in this study, further reveals that adolescents in Türkiye predominantly
engage in cyberbullying as bystanders, further emphasising the need for comprehensive understanding
and intervention strategies.
