Joint Study on Microtremors and Seismic Microzonation in Earthquake Countries, Hachinohe, Japan, 12 - 14 October 2000, vol.1, pp.1-20
The objective of this study is first to simulate the basin behavior in two dimension identical to the recordings and then investigate the effects of local site conditions in the profile crossing the severely damaged central part of Sakarya during the I 7'h August earthquake. A preliminary geotechnical profile model developed ITom available limited soil data was verified for the observed aftershock data recorded at specific points where the strong ground motion accelerometer array were under the operation after the main earthquake.
As the target, the model was used to study the aftershock earthquake motions in Adapazari as a basis for improving the earthquake design applications for engineer:ng structures of the city and those of others in similar situation This study also attempts to provide inside to the local response phenomena more than a general picture of the soil response through the use of two-dimensional nonlinear analysis technique.
