Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is a set of safety features and technologies designed to increase vehicle safety and enhance the driving experience by providing assistance and automation for various driving tasks. Glare from the sun and headlights poses a significant challenge to ADAS by degrading the visibility of road scenes captured by day vision cameras. In this paper, a fusion rule approach is proposed to enhance road scene by reducing the effect of sun and headlight glare in day vision camera images using multi-scale image fusion techniques. Using the spectral characteristic information of day vision and thermal camera sensors, the approach reduces the negative effects of glare while preserving important scene details. When quality metrics in the literature are used for image fusion techniques, it has been observed that the proposed work gives better success than traditional methods.
