Nowadays, the wireless local area networks (WLAN) grows rapidly with the advantages such as easy installation, widening and mobility in wireless technology world. In this paper, low-cost WLAN receiver prototype are presented in real-time. National Instruments (NI) LabVIEW software is used to design the ERP-DSSS/CCK baseband receiver functionality. The receiver consist of a dipole antenna, the universal software radio peripheral 2 (USRP2), and a PC setup NI USRP2 driver. To validate the real-time receiver, real wireless channel conditions are evaluated in the Univ. of Texas at Dallas. The results show that the designed receiver successfully implements all physical layer functions. and detects the IEEE 802.11b signals.
