Abstract

The microstructure and impact toughness of an experimental bainitic steel after arc welding with a consumable electrode from an austenitic stainless steel are studied. The impact toughness is measured for specimens of the weld metal, the metal of the heat-affected zone, and the base metal. The weld metal exhibits a higher impact toughness than the metal of the heat-affected zone and of the base metal.
