Since the Industrial Revolution, weekly working hours have always been a current topic of discussion in working life. Today, discussions on weekly working hours continue in order to determine fewer working hours. This study examines the trends in employment policies of countries around the world to reduce weekly working hours. Reducing working hours stands out as an important strategy in line with the goals of increasing work efficiency, improving the quality of life of employees and ensuring work-life balance. Practices in countries such as Scandinavian countries, New Zealand, France, Germany, Japan, the USA and Australia are analyzed within the framework of the economic and social dynamics of each country. The COVID-19 pandemic has played a decisive role in the evolution of these policies, along with the spread of remote working practices. Reducing working hours is thought to have the potential to increase employee satisfaction as well as encourage creativity and innovation. In this context, the report aims to evaluate the benefits and challenges of reducing weekly working hours and to reveal best practices and future trends at an international level.
