Özet

This study investigates the wear and erosion behavior of NiHard-4 white cast iron under various tribological conditions. To achieve this, the performance of the alloy’s microstructural features, particularly the austenitic matrix and eutectic carbides, was evaluated under abrasive forces. Wear tests were conducted on NiHard-4 samples at both room temperature and elevated temperatures. At room temperature, friction coefficient and wear volume were measured under different loads and sliding speeds, and microstructural analyses were performed on the worn surfaces. High-temperature tests were conducted at 450 °C, 550 °C, and 650 °C to examine the tribological performance, focusing on the variations of friction coefficient and the effects of surface oxidation. Additionally, solid particle erosion tests were performed at three different impact angles (30°, 60°, and 90°), and erosion rates and surface damage mechanisms were evaluated. The results demonstrated that the ductility and plastic deformation capability of the austenitic matrix both facilitate a synergistic interaction with hard carbides, significantly enhancing the wear resistance. These findings confirm the durability and performance of NiHard-4 white cast iron under severe wear conditions, supporting its reliability as a material for demanding industrial applications.
