Abstract

In this study, an ultrawideband antenna with variable frequency notch band characteristics is presented. Using only one pin diode, which is mounted to the back side of the antenna, WLAN signals (5.15 and 5.875 GHz) are easily suppressed. The designed antenna bandwidth is 211 GHz covering the entire band assigned for the UWB application, which is more than 135%. The detailed design considerations are described in the article. The proposed antenna is implemented, and the experimental results are carried out to validate simulation results. (c) 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
