Göcek, is one of Türkiye’s sensitive marine ecosystems under protection. It is one of the favorite tourism regions of Türkiye, especially known for hosting yacht tourism for recreational purposes and its bays. Its resident population doubles in the summer months with the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists to the region. The aim of the present study is to examine the changes in the maximum and minimum concentrations of nutrients measured in wastewater discharged to Göcek and in marine water in Göcek bays between 2014 and 2022 and to make an assessment about necessities to be done for a sustainable Göcek ecosystem.
