Fotoğraf tarihinde birçok önemli fotoğraf sanatçısının konu olarak ele aldığı el figürü, farklı anlamlarda ve farklı denemelerle karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Her fotoğraf sanatçının denemeleri ve temaları farklılık yaratır ve böylelikle her fotoğrafta el figürü özgünlüğünü korur. Her sanatçı el figürünü farklı anlamlarla işlemektedir. Verilmek istenen mesajı sanatçıya özgüdür. Fotoğraf sanatçılarının kendilerini ve sanatlarını geliştirme isteği, sanatsal ifade biçimlerini de olumlu anlamda etkilemiştir. Fotoğraf sanatçısı diğer tüm disiplinlerde olduğu gibi kendine özgü bir dil oluşturmuştur. Bazen çok bildik, tanıdık bir konuyu, kendine özgü bir dil yaratarak oluştururlar. Fotoğrafta el figürü, mecazi anlamda da birçok referanslara sahip bir figür olarak ele alınabilir. El/ eller, bir insanın iç dünyasının dışavurumunun bir anlamda göstergeleridir.

The hand figure, which many important photographers dealt with as a subject in the history of photography, appears with different meanings and with different trials. The experiments and themes of each photographer make a difference and thus the hand figure preserves its originality in every photograph. Each artist treats the hand figure with different meanings. The message to be given is unique to the artist. Photography artists' desire to improve themselves and their arts has also positively affected their artistic expression. The photographer has created a unique language as in all other disciplines. Sometimes they compose a very familiar subject by creating a unique language. The hand figure in the photograph can be considered as a figure with many references in a figurative sense. The hand / hands are, in a sense, indicators of the expression of a person's inner world.
