The purpose of this research is to examine the surface roughness characteristics after laser
processing on the surface of St52 steel material. The surface of the St52 material is textured using the GF
Laser P1200 U Tire. 3-dimensional topographic images and 2-dimensional linear roughness parameters
obtained by Nanovea PS50 non-contact laser profilometer according to ISO12578 and ISO 4287
standards were analyzed and examined to reveal the effects of laser processing parameters on the surface
roughness after the surface texture creation process. It was concluded that textures formed on the material
surface with roughness analysis parameters such as Ra and Sa may be made reproducibly and by
modifying the laser processing settings. It has been revealed that the roughness value of the surface
texture is closely connected to laser processing parameters. The roughness levels of the texture created on
the St52 surface differ depending on the laser processing direction. Distance measurements and roughness
analyses between beam stages were also accomplished during laser texture development. In mold
manufacture, St52 material is preferred. As a result, it is critical to produce various textures with laser for
the creation of various components on mold surfaces, as well as to highlight the effects of this technique
on surface roughness.
