METAL SCIENCE AND HEAT TREATMENT, cilt.55, ss.304-308, 2013 (SCI-Expanded)
Metallographic and fractographic studies of the failure of microalloyed steel grade X42 (type 09G2S) are performed. Microhardness, flow stress, yield strength, elongation, and impact strength are measured. In tension the steel exhibits typical ductile failure at room temperature and cleavage fracture with impact loading. Grain elongation along the rolling direction plays an important role in crack propagation.
