IV. International Architectural Sciences and Applications Symposium, Girne, Kıbrıs (Kktc), 30 - 31 Mayıs 2024, ss.1, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
In Turkey, the widespread adoption of modern housing architecture
through state and cooperative productions occurred after the Second World War.
Established as the first housing actor of the state, the Real Estate and
Orphans Bank, after its initial project of the Second National Architectural
characteristics in Saraçoğlu District, was renamed as the Real Estate and
Credit Bank in 1946. In this new era, the state actor assumed the role of a
housing research center following modern planning and architectural principles.
The bank produced privileged projects of the time such as Levent Houses and
Yenimahalle Houses, among the first modern housing settlements. Conducting new
housing settlement experiments for Turkey, the Bank prepared brochures
detailing all architectural details to introduce these projects to both
consumers and private producers. Although the housing projects were designed by
different architects, there was a common search for a shared language in the
drawings prepared for promotion. Bedri Kökten's signature often appeared in the
representation of housing projects in these brochures.
