Özet

Abstract Technological convergence is significantly impacting Africa’s industrial and socio-economic framework. This study provides a narrative review of literature to critically assess the impact of two transformative technologies Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digitalization on Africa’s development landscape. While these technologies have begun to shape various sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education, and energy, their diffusion remains uneven. Most technological advancements are concentrated in urban and economically advanced areas, creating a digital division that leaves rural and underserved communities with limited access and benefit. This disparity is largely attributed to systemic challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, skill shortages, and disjointed policy implementation across the continent. The study emphasizes that, without strategic and inclusive interventions, the promise of emerging technologies may fail to translate into widespread socio-economic progress. To address this, it proposes actionable recommendations focused on policy reform, digital literacy, infrastructure investment, and multi stakeholder collaboration. Strengthening these foundational elements is essential to building resilient and inclusive ecosystems that enable all African nations to benefit from technological advancement. Ultimately, equitable access to innovation will be critical to achieving sustainable and inclusive development across the continent.
