Abstract

The aim of the study is to compare the material culture of the Hittites established the state organization in Anatolia and ruled it for 450 years, with the material culture of the Assyrians originated in Mesopotamia. The powerful trading system initiated by the Old Assyrian Kingdom through agreements with small kingdoms in Anatolia was managed by the rulers in the capital Assyria and the Assyrian merchants. Local kingdoms and local merchants had also found a place for themselves in different dimensions in this system. Anitta, King of Kuššara, brought the end of the Old Assyrian kingdom by capturing all trade colonies and a central state emerged in Anatolia. Following this change, the Hittite Kingdom was established in Central Anatolia, and the Middle Assyrian Kingdom in North Mesopotamia in the Late Bronze Age. In this regard, both the political structures of these two states and also their houses, temples, warehouses, social hierarchy, use of slaves and sources of income are examined. As a result, differences in religious approaches to conquest policy, the severity of laws and the position of women in society are identified.
