Abstract

The fundamental research on the microparticle manipulation is related to the possible application in cellular research, drug delivery, or as working tools for other microscale tasks. In this work, we have studied on system modeling and control of a magnetic micromanipulator system. A current-to-force model is derived from the first principles approach and it is used for controlling the system. A backstepping approach based nonlinear controller is designed and its performance is obtained experimentally. The controller yields a smooth control signal, fast transient response and practically zero steady-state position error. The system can be used in single cell or microparticle manipulation based applications.
