Abstract

This work investigates stability of an inverse problem for a backward linear parabolic heat problem by using an initial temperature measurement. This kinds of problem has been widely used in a various field of pure and applied science. The necessary condition of the minimizer for the cost functional are constructed by using the optimal control theory. Stability of the minimizer for the cost functional is proved based on the necessary condition. (C) 2012 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
