In autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD, it; is well known that intracranial aneurysm (ICA) prevalence us increased with a higher risk of subarachnoid haemorrhage due to aneurysm rupture, In the current study, during the one-year-period. to estimate the prevalence of ICA in 23 patients (median age 57 +/- 13, F/M:13/10) with ADPKD who were admitted to Kocaeli University Hospital, Department of Nephrology, we prospectively performed cranial magnetic resonance (MR) angiography (1.5-T MR). Four aneurysms (17.4%) were found in 23 patients, all of which were between 2-7 mm in largest dimension. Several studies up to date have found the prevalence of ICA to be considerably higher in people with ADPKD (4.0 to 22.5%) as compared with general population. The current study exposed the ICA prevalence in patients with ADPKD by MR angiography in cur country. The high prevalence giver as 17.4%is particularly important because rupture of these aneurysms may result as fatal outcomes.
