Urfa has developed a multilayered (palimpsest) structure through the traces of numerous civilizations it has hosted throughout history. This study aims to analyze the early settlement history of the city and its configuration of sacred spaces through a typomorphological approach, focusing on four Neolithic mounds that represent this palimpsest structure: Çakmaktepe, Göbeklitepe, Karahantepe, and Balıklıgöl.Within this framework, the sacred spaces located in these Neolithic mounds are examined not only in terms of their religious functions but also through their spatial organization and architectural components, in relation to the concepts of typomorphology and urban morphology. In doing so, the study seeks to reveal the relationship between type and form in the sacred spaces of the city. The research begins with the identification and mapping of sacred spaces within the Neolithic mounds of Urfa. Among the examined sites, four primary mounds— Çakmaktepe, Göbeklitepe, Karahantepe, and Balıklıgöl—were selected as focal points due to the quality of their typomorphological data and their roles in urban continuity.Since the study aims to analyze sacred spaces within an urban context through a typomorphological perspective, each mound is examined in detail under the following criteria: spatial form, architectural and figurative elements, material and artifact data, and spatial scale. The findings obtained through this classification are tabulated, and a spatial interpretation is conducted based on the common typologies of sacred spaces.
