Oguzhan Urhan received his BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Kocaeli, Kocaeli, Turkey, in 2001, 2003, and 2006, respectively. He worked as a research assistant at the same department during his graduate level education. He took part in the establishment of Kocaeli University laboratory of image and signal processing and work there until 2013.
In 2006-2007, he worked as a visiting professor at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea where he gave graduate level lecture in imaging systems and carried out joint research with the Korean research team. He started to work as an assistant professor at University of Kocaeli in 2007 where he promoted to associate professorship in 2009 and full professorship in 2015.
In this process, he involved in many research projects supported by different institutions such as TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), DPT (State Planning Organization), Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, KOSGEB (Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization) as principal investigator, advisor and researcher. As the output of these projects, he has more than 150 scientific publications including 30+ SCI/SCI-E journal papers in signal/image processing and embedded systems. These publications received more than 400 citations according to ISI Web of Science. He is a senior member of IEEE. He serves as editoral board member of TUBITAK Turkish Journal of Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences and associate editor of IEEE Access journals.
In 2008, he took part in the establishment of Pars Ar-Ge Info. Tech. Ltd. which is one of the first spin-off from the University of Kocaeli. He acted as CTO and supervised many projects until 2013 when he left the company. During this process, he designed the first Digital Tachograph System in Turkey which includes vehicle unit (VU), motion sensor (MS), calibration device, download key, remote download device and software upgrade device, starting from the scratch. He also supervised Common Criteria EAL 4+ level security evaluation process of the VU.
In 2013, he established a new research laboratory which focuses on embedded and vision systems: KULE (Kocaeli University Laboratory of Embedded and Vision Systems). This laboratory aims to fill an important gap in its research area by developing innovative R&D projects. Oguzhan Urhan is founder and CEO of the EVSTEK Info. Tech. Ltd. where he leads design and development of embedded and vision products. He has been serving as CEO of Kocaeli University Technopark since 2020.
